I met Garry Nicola Broadway on Christian Mingle on 12/28/16. He told me he lived in Lubbock, TX and was a gemologist. He had a website for his business, and we communicated by email, text, and phone. Everything seemed legitimate. He sent me a copy of a contract for work he had to do on diamonds. He said he had to go to South Africa on January 5, 2017. Everything was fine until just days before he was supposed to get back he didn't have enough money to finish the work. He asked me to send $3,000 to a man in Turkey who he said was an agent of the company. He then kept pressuring me for money, but I resisted until the end of February. I sent $5,500 on March 2nd to another man in Turkey. Then he kept telling me he just needed a little more. I sent $650 to someone in South Africa. I felt safer with this money going where he was. He asked me for $500 on March 22nd saying this would get him home. I sent it to someone else in South Africa. I got upset when he told me there was a problem and he couldn't get home. He just stopped all contact. I reported him to the FBI and FTC. After doing some searching online, I saw where someone else was asked to send money to the exact same person in Turkey at the same bank that he asked me to send money to. I sent him a text with a picture of their post and told him I knew he he was a scammer. He came back and told me, "Yes, now get out."
