He pretended to be a customer and to be interested in a couple of art pieces.
He asked to buy 2 artworks using a check, and wanted the artwork to be shipping to Florida (from California).
I was able to spot the scam after the second email exchange. The scammer didn't want to talk on the phone, and using check to buy something on the internet is always a big red flag.
