Got a letter in the mail shortly after filing my LLC with the secretary of state . Like an [censored] just sent a check but felt like something was off . Called the number (8552455115) and a lady answered assured me it was not a scam and it's to have a sealed certificate proving the business is in good standing . She described it as necessary for tax purposes. Canceled the check with my bank. Came in a manilla envelope saying it was urgent . I noticed in small print towards the bottom it says this is not a government agency . How is this company getting the information? Need to be shut down this isn't ok .

Recieved letter in the mail about my LLC. States I have one step letf to attain my NM Certificate of Status for a fee of 87.25. It states at the bottom of the letter that this is not a government agency. I went online to NM secratary of the state for business and can get my own NM certificate of status for $25. This company is a scam that tries to get you to pay them $87.25 to perform the same thing you can do and it is not required. They write the letter to make you believe you have to do this in order to get a NM Certificate of status but it is not required. They have no website listed on the letter. Do not fall for this scam.

This certificate is not in any way needed. I requested a refund and sent it back.
They never refunded my money after 6 calls over several months.

After applying to the NM Secretary of State for a limited liability company and receiving the registration, I received a letter from the above agency advising that I now owe $87.25 for a ‘New Mexico Certificate of Status’. It further explains that “the Certificate of Status bears the official seal of the New Mexico Secretary of State “.

I called the company’s phone number as listed and talked to a woman, but when I questioned her about the company and ownership, she hung up on me. There is no web site for this company.

Registered my new business with the state of New Mexico and within days a somewhat official looking “2021 Certificate of Status request firm” letter arrives indicating “you have one step left to attain your elective New Mexico certificate of status”

Shows an “Official Document number” and has a payment & signature coupon with an

“Amount enclosed” showing $97.50.Has a “Please respond by 9/4/2021” date in bold print & Says the certificate bears the official seal of New Mexico Secretary of State.

Researched on web to find this is a bogus request form and they have operations around the US but headquartered in Florida.

Buyer Beware.

Very misleading but looks somewhat legitimate at first glance.

Received this letter following registration of a new business with the state. The letter received indicates that in order to receive a New Mexico Certificate of Status we must send a check or money order to this business NM Certificate Service. This was immediately suspect to me as the state of NM handles everything online with an established account.

It looks like previous complaints have been responded to by the company and they indicate that this letter clearly indicates that this is an official government requirement and is elective. While the letter does technically indicate this, it is not clear. Out of the two paragraphs of text, the word "elective" is used once and the text "This is not a government agency" does appear near the center of the page in the smallest size of any text in the letter. Not only is it a prime example of "fine print" it was center justified and placed exactly above the dotted line where a normal letter would have text along the lines of "Detach the below portion...".

The sender can claim that this is clearly not an official letter or requirement all they want, but this is a deceptive practice and is clearly not intended to be easily recognized as a private service taking your money.

I JUST STARTED A NEW BUSINESS AND LATER RECEIVED AN OFFICIAL LOOKING LETTER REQUESTING A MONEY ORDER OF $97.25 TO ATTAIN MY ELECTIVE NM CERTIFICATE OF STATUS (AFTER REALIZING I CAN REQUEST THIS ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE). A COUPLE WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER REQUESTING A MONEY ORDER FOR $94 TO OBTAIN A REQ'D LABOR LAW POSTER. I LOOKED THEM UP TO SEE OTHER REVIEWS ALSO GETTING SCAMMED.

Mail received with scam

Our business was sent a letter saying that since we had registered with the secretary of state, we had one final step to register our business and receive a certificate of status.

This fake “agency“ sent me a letter saying I had 10 days to send a check or money order payable to NM Certificate Service for $97.25 to receive my NM Certificate of Status for my newly registered business. The letter included no website, email address, or option of paying with a credit card online, and the only phone number was a toll-free number with Eastern Standard Time business hours, which sounded strange for a New Mexico business. I then looked up the phone number online and found no listing; I also looked up the address and found no business with a name like NM Certificate Service. Instead a UPS store is located at this address. Also, the postmark on the envelope says it was mailed from zip code 33534, which is in Florida.
