My small business received a phone call from a woman named Suzanne, who stated that she was selling advertising spots on “discount cards” that would be distributed to employees at large companies such as John Deere, Wells Fargo and Principal Financial. It was explained that If I purchased an ad, my business would offer an incentive to get people to spend money at my business. The discount cards were said to be distributed to over 5,000 employees. I purchased an advertising spot, but never saw any printed cards or had my offer redeemed at my business.
