Phone rang on Friday 9/13/2023 with "Spam Likely" showing on caller ID. Phone number was spoofed as 111-111-1111. I didn't answer, but caller left a message. He did not give an agency name, but he said he was "Silas". He said something about my case being marked "non-compliant" and eluded to my needing to call because of a summons. But there were no specifics! I have no outstanding debts so I don't see how a collection agency could be threatening lawsuit. The creepiest part is that they phoned my brother and left him a message saying they were looking for me, using the same spoofed number. My SSN was recently leaked on the dark web, and my old address--which my brother once shared--was part of that leak. This also happened 6 months ago (although different phone numbers) with the same scheme, including calling my brother to try to find me. No one ever served me papers following that call, and there was no prior attempt to reach me by mail regarding a supposed outstanding debt. Everything about this screams "scam", but I find it infuriating! I have checked my credit to make sure that no one has stolen my identity and opened a new line of credit under my name, and it seems fine. I have frozen my credit as a further precaution.
