Type of a scam Employment
The PowerPoint started by introducing the companies we would be working with (which was not identified previously in the job postings or any communication with employees). The companies are Archer Travel, Evolution Travel, and Evolution Enterprises.
Around ten minutes into the PowerPoint, I googled both Archer Travel and Evolution Travel. I found through @antimlm Reddit forums and comments left on the Archer Travel official business profile page of Indeed that this was a potential scam. I tried to ask the trainer about the information I had seen online but was not provided with a response. During the meeting, I was not a-loud to unmute myself to ask questions, turn on my camera to ask questions, or view the participant's chat to communicate with others in the training session.
Around twenty minutes of the training session was spent on telling participants about the vendors the company works with, prizes that can be won at the end of the training session for attending, benefits, and sales pitches (including the ability to 'book your own vacation' 'work from home' and 'the best part is you can go on vacation whenever you want'). Next, the PowerPoint included information that appeared to legitimize the company. They did this by flashing several official-looking certificates on the screen (which I could not verify through google afterward). They also discussed the better business bureau but did not specify why or how this point related to training. The training session did not include salary information but stated that payment was based on commission.
The training session was set for an hour. Around the half-hour point, I left the training sessions, alerting the trainer that I was no longer interested in the job, and I thought they were part of a scam. Even though I left halfway through and alerted the trainer that I was no longer interested, I was sent an enrollment link through text from the number stated in this report after the training was over. I was told to follow a link to enroll, and when I clicked on it, my computer gave me a security alert. The link led me to Evolution Enterprise Enrollment, which asked me to fill out all personal information (including address, email, phone number, name, and SSN) and pay for the 'IBO package' of $64.94 with a 'monthly administration fee' of $69.95. I was also given enrollment to create my website and a sticker at the bottom of the page for a money-back guarantee (which I could not verify through google). The location of the business was not provided, as it was remote. Since a location was required for the report, I provided the location for the CEO of Archer Travel, as stated in his public LinkedIn profile. I also have a collection of over ten screenshots to backup everything in this report, but the upload box will only let me upload one file. Please contact me if would like the other screenshots, including the enrollment text message after I declined the job. The image provided is a screenshot of the enrollment link that was scent, and evidence of the amount the company wanted me to pay.
