Texts appearing to be from an automated bank sender were received notifying recipient of potential fraud on their card. Scammer called the victim using a phone number that appeared on caller ID as a trusted bank phone number. The scammer discussed alleged fraudulent charges with the victim and asked the victim to verify information relating to their debit card. Scammer used this information to add the victims debit card to their Apple Pay/ Apple wallet account. This included sending automated text with confirmation numbers through Apple Pay to the victims phone. The scammer repeatedly stated that the call was on a monitored and recorded line. Approximately one hour after completion of this call the victim noticed two fraudulent charges to their debit account prompting the victim to investigate the call, cancel their debit card and transfer remaining funds away from the compromised account. Two separate charges were made at a Best Buy #26 in Wauwatosa WI by scammer approximately 1 hour after the initial phone call. (reported from North Shore Bank employee)
