I was contacted by text messaging as well. They were relentless, by the way. I have had my fill of texts and emails from "so-called" businesses looking to hire me, and I ignored them assuming they were a scam. Finally, a good ways in, I though that I should check them out, as they were so persistent. I looked them up online, and the website was bare bones. I looked up reviews and found conversations on reddit form people saying they were legit. They said their vetting process was so strict because they are looking for quality professionals. The industry is flooded with personal trainers that are not educated or trained, and they need to weed them out. Another person said that his sister did some work for them, and they were a good company to work for. In addition, North.star was filled with documents to sign acknowledging that as a perspective consultant, the guide was not mandatory. They had forms that talked about privacy, piracy. and plagerism. They talked about this position being high-paid, and should only be pursued by professionals who are used to this kind of atmosphere. Therefore, the few complaints that I saw on them through scam advisor seemed to be just bitter people unable to pass the exam. Sooo...I bought the study guide.

Just as mentioned prior, the exam was CRAZY. I have never taken anything like this, and yes, I too have taken a million exams and written essays for college and certifications. All the emails were vague, unhelpful and wordy. This was presented as if it were part of the "weeding" process. I mean if you can't follow the directions, how can you be a good consultant. In fact, they as much say that at one point. I did not finish the last portion, and was sent no information on my results due to their plagerism and cheating concerns. I was just given a bunch of reasons it could be that I was not qualified to move forward.

Here is the bottom line. They got me. They got me because the need for jobs is attracting sick horrible people taking advantage of people who earnestly want to make a living. They got me because they appealed to my lifestyle. I have kids at home with health issues. They keep me from the opportunity to be out of the house full-time. They got me because I wanted an income to supplement my fitness coaching business. I am so upset. I am upset with myself for being stupid. I am upset that there is not an opportunity like this to help me and my family.

I hope they get these guys as well!

At first, I was contacted via text message regarding a wellness consultant position with the company dubbed Northstar-inspired. The website was extremely rinky-dink, and was suspect to me, however, there seem to be a lot of planning, organization, and thought behind the whole set up, which I’m about to explain. Supposedly this position entailed reviewing workout programs for a Fitness phone app, in which the consultant follows the procedure with the acronym SAFE to evaluate these workout programs before either approving or denying their effectiveness, and subsequent processing for clients to access the workout programs. After the initial contact which was via text, there was a preliminary interview which consisted of a handful of questions, and short answers pertaining to my education and background, work experience, and other biographical information. Then there was a slew of short essay type questions involving hypothetical situations involving personal training, education, and possibly the science involved in the latter topics. I’m having difficulty recalling the preliminary interview, because of my most recent “endeavor“ with this preposterous “Company“, which consisted of the second and final interview, a.k.a. the “knowledge exam“, which ironically, neither of those words pertain to the discombobulated and disorganized “exam” that was administered. One had to receive an 80% or better on this exam in order to receive their money back from the study guide. Which brings me to the money that I lost. I do want to mention, and what was very strange about this particular scam, was that the study guide was optional, and they did specify this. It was not required, however it was recommended as an option to help prepare for this extremely extensive and in-depth examination according to the website. They advertised that you received your money back if you passed with an 80% or better on the knowledge exam. You had to sign a contract stating that you understood the terms of reimbursement and one other contract that I can’t remember the name of. the study guides range in price from 190 to 290 dollars depending upon how specific your exam guide was. Where I thought the scam came in, was that during the exam, every single question, all 230 of them, asked the exam study guide holders to note which portion of the exam study guide the question pertained to. Many of the fill in the blank questions would have been impossible to answer had one not purchased the study guide. There were no options or multiple choice options for these fill in the blank questions, one could’ve literally put two synonyms in the blanks for these fill in the blank questions, and one would form a coherent sentence. These questions were so vague and ambiguous that this is when I really started feeling uneasy about the whole process. The study guide was over 100 pages in length, very disorganized with topics arranged in alphabetical order, which in and of itself presented problems.. Instead of focusing on one topic at a time, such as the cardiovascular system, or the musculoskeletal system, etc., you had topics presented alphabetically, which scattered all of the bodily systems in one huge conglomeration of an overly complicated yes simultaneously watered down “study guide”. Everything was extremely wordy, in fact everything with this “Company” is excessively wordy. The emails that were sent from this company used polysyllabic words, “big words to sound smart,” when really, they just came across as fluffy , flowery, empty and pretentious. I am going to upload some of the emails that were sent back-and-forth from the “exam division“. During the exam there were seven sections, and before I commenced each section I had to take the time to email some sketchy sounding email address that contains the word Geo data, and I had to email them a series of five things, including an HR ID number, which section it was, my city and state, and local time I believe it was. This took precious time away from the exam of which enough time was not allotted. 230 questions, some of them fill in the blank, some of them I have no idea, but the majority of them were essay questions. Over 100 of these questions were essay questions and we had to answer 230 of them in 180 minutes, and time was not stopped for when we had to email Geo data those five things that I mentioned. That’s seven emails. The first section was so strange, it had me scratching my head and very concerned that this was a scam. my Siri was that this was a scam in order to obtain information from my computer, such as computer hacking. I don’t know a whole bunch about it so I might sound ignorant, even saying that, however, it was very strange that I had to email them, my city, state, local time, Etc. each time I commenced a new section. I’ve never had to do that with any exam in my life. Which brings me to my life, I actually was in medical school to be a physician, I completed 2 1/2 years of medical school and was a year and a half away from graduating as a physician. I had already taken the first boards and passed. Unfortunately, I had a trauma that dislodged my journey but that’s besides the point. I just wanted to mention this, so that everyone knows that I have Extensive credentials, I have taken a plethora of exams, and not one exam ever came close to being as ludicrous and preposterous as this one. I reached out to the exam division via email about my concerns of this being a scam, since it just blew my mind, how ambiguous, odd, and quite frankly skin, crawling, some of the procedures for taking this exam were. I was subsequently attacked verbally, I was basically told that I was the only one that did not submit the exam correctly, and that had an expired exam, and there were quite a few people that took the exam. This guy, his name is Mark I believe, said that a whole plethora of individuals took the exam, and that I was the only one that was unsuccessful in completing and submitting it. I ran out of time during the last section because it was impossible to finish this exam in time. After I emailed my concerns and my dissatisfaction with the process, as well as the fact that I did not appreciate this “gentleman” telling me that just because I did poorly on the exam doesn’t mean that it is a scam, I was subsequently blocked. I basically emailed him my credentials, as well as the fact that he should not assume that I did poorly on the exam just because I did not finish the last section, I basically dissected his email that he sent me as well as the process, and I believe that he knew that I was onto him, and hence blocked me. I did not use any foul language, no curse words, no racial slurs, or homophobic language whatsoever, just a mere fact that something was very fishy with the whole process and that I did not appreciate him being rude to me, and here I was blocked from all emails and texts. I wasted over a month preparing for the exam, $290 that I did not have, and hope that I was going to finally land a decent job after the trauma that I experienced in medical school. I am so disheartened right now I can’t stand it. And to make matters worse, I finally received an email regarding my “performance“ on the exam, and just as I suspected: there was a list of 10 to 15 potential “errors“ on my part as to why I did not pass the exam. No score was provided, again, and M Diggy was an overly wordy explanation as to why I was not being considered. on another website that posts about scams I saw a gentleman mention this exact same email as an email that he received with regards to his performance on the exam as well. It figures. These suckers need to be caught and I need to be caught NOW.

Offer a job. State that the second stage of interview is a knowledge exam. Offer a study guide for purchase that is refundable unless you are suspected to cheat on the exam. Immediately flag the exam for cheating in spite of no proof or explanation of why. Provide no appeals process

The scammer claimed due to phishing their website was protected. Their so-called aim is to offer you an online remote fitness/wellness consultant position to their clients. They hold their position as one of super high calibre and exclusive standards to the health industry. Coming forth as arrogant throughout their correspondence via email and staying true to a stand offish attitude of superiority and utter rudeness. Where they claim to be scrutinizing you and your ability to read very detailed, pompous english which oozes attitude and ego. They encourage you to buy a study guide from their partners (which is redeemable if you pass their exam), as passing the interview exam is extremely difficult to do on such a vast topic. The exam is utterly confusing and ambiguous, where they expect so much detail and cross referencing each question asked, to the study guide you pay $290 for. Many other details are expected during the exam procedure by you, that seem ridiculous and intricate and far too detailed to list here. When they email you to say your exam result is unauthorized, they send a generic email that doesn't even state the exact reason you have been unauthorized but rather give you a long list of 20 different possible reasons and tell you: "Any/All requests for exam processing details, grading protocols, performance evaluations/feedback or other additional information relating to the processing of this exam will be denied. All exam processing results are final and are not subject to debate or any form of explanation by the examinee."

You are unable to redeem the $290 for the study guide which they initially said you could do via a 500 word essay upon receiving your exam results. There is zero proof that this is even an operational company offering a service, other than scamming health industry professionals out of time and money.

WELL SAD. You took the words right out of my mouth, this is verbatim, EXACTLY what happened to me, and PRECISELY how I felt during this whole process. I want to beat their [censored], what a waste of time and money.

I was emailed saying I met the qualifications and contacted via text saying I was qualified for a posted position and the individual reached out to me with a process of how to apply. I then did some research regarding it and it seems legitimate. I'm scheduled to take a test and will not spend any money to do so. Once completed I will see where this goes. I did some online searching and found little information which has now put me on edge.

I did not purchase the study guides and scheduled the test. On test day - nothing, no test! Never heard from them again.

They contacted me via text after finding my resume on indeed. There is a grueling exam you have to supposedly pass to get the job. I have a degree in exercise physiology and have worked in my field for 20 years. The exam comes with a guide to use for studying and it’s $290. They say if you make 70% or above you can receive the money back. The exam was extremely unfair. It had 7 sections to complete. Between each section you had to log back into your email, all browsers had to be closed for the exam, type in 5 different things they wanted and had to email it to them In between each section. This wasted 24 minutes of my time because they made you keep the timer running the entire time. Gould not have had minutes taken away from the exam just to email them each time. The timer should stop for that but it doesn’t. I had 230 questions and only 3 hours to take the exam. 4 whole sections were essay questions/answers. It is absolutely impossible to pass this exam with that many essay questions in that shirt if time and losing 24 minutes of my time to email them. This is set up to fail you from the beginning and it definitely has to be a scam. I have no doubt. If I had the room I would send the email telling you how many reasons you can’t pass the exam. It is an incredible amount of reasons to not be able to even pass the exam. This is definitely a scam!

I 100% AGREE WITH YOU and I am actually feeling so much better about what happened to me, not that I wish anyone who is applying for a job to do poorly or to not obtain it, however, I was so disconcerted after taking this “exam“; everything that you mentioned with regards to sending the emails in between sections, having three hours to basically complete 230 short, essay questions, and then having sections that are so ambiguous in general, that you could basically put any words in the fill in the blank questions and have it make a coherent sentence. It just shows me that I am not the only one that went through this; then the jerk that emailed me with regards to the exam had the audacity to say that I was the ONLY ONE that had an expired exam and/or that did not successfully complete the examination. He said that everyone else successfully completed it with no issues and submitted it. I called BS on that without using the term “BS“. I was subsequently blocked from all emails and texts by Northstar for standing my ground via email and challenging the authenticity of this position for employment. No curse words were used know it, prejudiced or racial language of any sort, nothing that would warrant me getting blocked, but yet that is what happened. THEY NEW THAT I WAS ON TO THEM!

My wife received a text from these people offering a great salary and all she had to do was pass an assessment. They strong urged her to buy the study guide and since she refused she never go a test. Their is a Reddit form around this where multiple people report this but there is also a small group of accounts that comment in groups saying that she was just incompetent.
