My mother and my brother received cell phone messages from a company called NRA, 844-226-8637 stating if they weren't me to hang up. My mother gave me the phone number and I called. Eventually a male with a deep accent proceeded to tell me he was an "arbitrator" and that there was a civil lawsuit against me. He then had personal information on me including my last four digits of my ssn. I had to ask him a few times who was taking out a civil lawsuit in which he said hold on I will get to that. I have/had no idea what he was talking about. He then said it was a company, Verizon Opportunities. I have never heard of these people. He was talking fast about what the suit was about which made no sense. He mentioned about two different suits what about a "test something" and the second one made no sense. Again, he was making no sense. He mentioned a company I worked for 10 years ago but through out 2013 in which I said I haven't worked for them in years and he then proceeded to say "no it was before 2013". He then said this company has been trying to reach me from 2013-2015. Never have I received anything saying I owed anyone from "Verizon Opportunities". I have no idea who this company is. As I proceeded to say I had no idea who these people were and didn't understand what he was talking about he became more ignorant to me. He then said they could work this out now and not take me to court if I setup a payment plan and wouldn't take affect right away until they sent the paperwork about this to me. He said right now with fees it was just over $600.00 (I can't remember the exact number). He then said if I work it out now they would remove all fees and I would only have to pay the original amount of $450.00 (can't remember exact number). He was talking about how I could set up a future payment plan that would come out a few weeks later, not right now. And when I started asking if I would be getting the documentation first before setting this bank acct information he was very evasive and kept saying 'I will get to that'. He then said it is against the law to take the money until after they gave me the information but they needed to have my bank account information on file. I then said, 'so you are telling me I give you my bank information and then you send me the documentation' and he said yes, but they wouldn't take the money out first since he would go to jail and its against the law. I said 'no' I need paperwork first work before I set up any type of payment plan to see what he was talking about. He said well he couldn't do that. He also told me he had to do it all right now. I told him I wouldn't set up any bank information especially since I had no idea who he was and he then became very ignorant and said they will take me to court and the fees and attorney fees would triple and other threatening information. I told him to take me to court and he again proceeded to tell me the costs would be extremely high and I then hung up on him. Also during our phone conversation, he gave me some excuse about his computer and put me on some type of hold twice and then we were "disconnected" and he then called me back on a local number and said somehow we were disconnected. I am extremely concerned that this company has a lot of sensitive and personal information about me including family members phone numbers which I would NEVER give out and that they wanted me to give them banking information with no formal information about this "civil suit". I am extremely concerned this may be an identity theft scam because of the personal information.
