Type of a scam Employment
The initial part was all about the job, providing what sounded like job responsibilities, and asking me to confirm or if I had questions; this went on for about 20 minutes and then moved onto the typical "tell me about your skills" type interview questions. At the end of that exchange Georgina then explained that she needed to finalize her notes and coordinate with her HR lead to see if she can extend the offer based on my answers. After another 10-15 minutes of waiting, she came back with a "congratulations we are going to hire you based on your great answers" type message. In my excitement I didn't think to question why no additional interview or more formal conversation, etc. She quickly moved into "in order to get you into our system and get your offer confirmed, we need to collect information" with a block asking my full name, address, DOB, and SSN. I started to provide this information. As that went on she asked who I bank with and I provided the name of the bank but did not provide any account information. The next part is what tipped me off, they asked for me to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license as different attachments to the conversation. I declined and stated I do not trust sending in that manner and don't understand why they need the back scan code. She started to get short and saying it is for an identity verification process and that it was urgent for me to complete the process before the could extend the offer. As the exchange started using a bit more, non professional tone, I started to quickly remove sections of what I had provided in the skype chat such as my SSN and DOB lines (since I entered them separately instead of in the entire block of text they asked for)
Georgina attempted to keep on the pressure, but then once I continued to push back and stated my discomfort with the process, she provided the website I provided here; in reviewing the website, there was no position that matched what they were interviewing me for nor was there any HR rep named Georgina in the listing that I was able to search on indeed and a few other searches about the company; so I simply stated that I was not willing to pursue the position as no amount of compensation could allow me to lose my identity online. The only response I received was "so you aint want to have a job no more?" and that tipped me that I was no longer dealing with a true business professional and I ended the chat.
