Got an email from the supposedly hiring manager from NovaGray, Sharonda Howard. I Googled the company, and it is a cancer research group out of France. The original email stated that they were looking to open a branch near me, in TX. I responded with an interview chat with a Mr. Thompson Robinson on Skype yesterday morning. I was told that I met the qualifications for the position. After the chat, I received an email with a list of software I needed to purchase for the position. It stated that the company would pay for the software. Today I received a FedEx with a cashiers check for $3,950, drawn against City National Bank, in LA, CA. The FedEx came from the NYC Property Management Group, 45 West St, Oneonta, NY 13820. I called the bank, but they would not give me any info. This whole incident just seems too shady to me. Receiving a check for that amount of money, from someone I only chatted with online, is kind of scary. I am going to send the check back to the sender and leave this to you guys to figure out.
