Beware of Deceptive Practices: Oasis Home Protection - A Scam Targeting First-Time Home Buyers
My sister, a first-time young home buyer, recently fell victim to a deceptive scheme orchestrated by Oasis Home protection/Omega Homecare. She received a letter in the mail that falsely claimed her current home warranty was expiring, pressuring her to purchase a new one. This letter insinuated an affiliation with her mortgage company and the county deed records office, creating a false sense of urgency.
Upon investigating
further, I discovered numerous articles exposing the scamming and unethical
practices of Oasis Protection. Alarmingly, they are not listed on reputable
websites that typically feature trustworthy companies, raising serious concerns
about their legitimacy.
After my sister expressed
discomfort following a conversation with Aaron Poklis, I called to help her
cancel the service. Mr. Poklis's behavior was immediately hostile, lacking
basic courtesy. When I refused to disclose the name of the alternative company
we chose, he became confrontational, attempting to belittle our decision.
Mr. Poklis's
unprofessionalism escalated, leading to a frustrating exchange. Despite my
request to speak with someone else, he hung up on me and attempted to call my
sister directly. Upon rejoining the call, he continued with rude remarks,
questioning my sister's financial decisions and saying things like “Taylor is
unable to make her own financial decisions”.
After finally agreeing to
cancel, I spoke with supervisor Kyleigh Nelson. While initially apologetic, Ms.
Nelson defended Mr. Poklis's behavior by stating they are a retention
department, implying that such treatment is justified. This revelation indicated
a systemic issue within the company, not just an isolated incident.
Further investigation
revealed I found that they charge double the industry average, employs various
names to suppress negative reviews, and fosters confusion among buyers. I
suspect that any positive reviews here are likely fraudulent, potentially
written by employees to drown out genuine feedback.
