My cousin passed away earlier this week and today many false obituaries have been published by very scammy looking websites. There is no identifying information on the websites, no contact information on the website (no phone number, email address, physical address, etc.) so having the false obituaries removed seems impossible. There are “publisher names” but these people don’t seem to exist outside of these fake obituaries, if I had to guess the names of the authors are also fake. The obituaries are generally extremely vague but most of them are factually incorrect and appear to be click bait. It is disgusting, there is a grieving family trying to deal with the death of a loved one while someone seems to be profiting off of this tragedy while also publishing fake scammy looking information in the name of their families. For example, most of the websites say “the family would like money in leu of flowers” which makes the family members look like they’re trying to profit off of the death of their loved one. Websites include: funeralobitsmemorial.com, eternalhonoring.com, inlovingmemorynews.com, obitsmemorialplace.com, fineralmemorialobits.com, earlymemorials.com, obituarynewsnow.com, nationalmemorialsite.com, foxnews8.com.ng. All of these disgusting sites should be shut down before they hurt any more people by publishing false information about their deceased loved ones, or at a minimum if an obituary is published there should be SOME way of contacting the publisher about false information. This is completely ridiculous, as mentioned before, people are grieving a loved one and this is an INSANE thing to have to deal with along with all of the other things that family and loved ones need to deal with after someone has died. I am repulsed and seem to have no recourse. Please help.
