Received a voicemail from an 855 number - generic American name and voice (no accent, for what it’s worth). Indicated they had a summons for me that they’d be delivering to my home or office in two days and to call the “plaintiff’s office” at a 972 number with any questions. I called back and was informed I was being sued for an old debt, and with court fees I owed triple the principle balance. I asked if I could pay now to avoid it (to see what they’d say). After being placed on hold, the person acted as if I was lucky that a “court date hadn’t been scheduled yet,” and I could pay the principle balance now to both avoid court and the fees that tripled my amount owed. I hung up. They also called my mother and sister and harassed them.

This is an advanced scam, as they do not immediately ask for payment, and somehow do have personal information. They seem to have a canned answer for everything. Some red flags were the fact that they simultaneously claimed to have a summons, yet no court date; also a “warning” that I was going to have a summons hand-delivered and the ability to schedule when they deliver.

Please do not call back, do not give them any money, and do not give them any personal information.

My brother received a phone call regarding a court summons for me.

I returned a call and she tried to get payment for a very old US BANK account.

If I don't make a payment over the phone now she is going to send a summons for me to go to court.

She knew info about old addresses and last 4 of San. I called back asking for a physical mailing address and she said "we don't give out that information "!
