A man came to the door yesterday claiming to be with a construction company working in the area offering roofing, painting etc services. In our case he offered to provide an estimate for painting and make an appointment for the following day. He didn't have any flyers or information beyond a business card but he used his phone to call his "office manager" for me to confirm my name and address and the arranged appointment. He was very personable. However I had second thoughts since the house is owned by my sister {I had already told the guy this and he included her name in the phone call) so I called the number on the card. there was a recording saying the number was busy to try again later. I tried several times, same recording. This morning I tried again. now the recording says that the number is no longer in service. So now I'm terrified it was a scam for identity theft and maybe house title theft.
