I then spoke to “James Kemp” who stated he was the hiring manager for the Work from Home Job opportunity. In the end, I was instructed to deposit 2 checks, one in the amount of $1300 and the other for $1500. My bank put the $1300 check on hold, but cleared the $1500 since it was from Chase. I was told I needed to purchase necessary equipment [computer/printer etc] to perform the job and I was to use this deposited money to purchase that way.
Red flags started to appear after I would ask for a phone number, a website for the company and I also could not find Adecco Group on the Better Business Bureau website. I decided to go to the bank and ask the teller if she felt this was a scam, and she confirmed it was. I went to the ScamPulse.com local Camarillo office, and the rep helped me put a notation on my bank account that I was a victim of employment fraud. They have notated the account, and my bank is frozen until they can wait for the funds to be returned.
Luckily I stopped this before things could escalate further. The hiring manager continues to text me threatening messages, not knowing I am already aware of this scam.
