My son found a jersey he liked and wanted to order. Since my son is an older teenager and has no credit card, I signed up the account in his name with his email address and used my credit card. After the order was placed, he received an email from "Vikingsofficialsshop.com" that said his order was processing. It also stated his order number and the amount of $49.99 charged to the credit card.
My son then received another email from "[email protected]" regarding the payment. It said, "Due to the foreign exchange rate, the amount displayed on your statement might be a little bit different from the real price. Please note "Long Zhen Tech Ltd" will be displayed on your credit card statement instead of the website from which you purchased the mentioned product. It's just used for sending bill statement by the seller's payment processor as a tool. Should you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Services department at [email protected]. •E-mail: [email protected] •Phone number: 86-755-22910168."
My son did not know to be suspicious of the emails sent to him, just thinking this is the "normal" process of an order online. Unfortunately, I did not look at the emails until my son told me that the order was still "processing" five days later. He tried emailing the "fanzoutlet" email but never received a response. This is when I became aware of things and took a closer look at what was going on and realized that we were both scammed. I am kicking myself for not looking closer at the details of the page to realize it was fraudulent. If you look at the wording closer, you will notice typos and I should have known better to think that there was a "free exchange" and the site was not legitimate.
