Called and told me that I was summoned for Federal Jury duty and mail was sent to me certified and someone had signed but I had failed to report for duty. They told me I had 2 citations against me - Failure To Appear and Contempt of Court. They provided citation numbers and stated that they were legitimate individuals in the Sheriffs Department (I checked the names during the phone call). They said that if I failed to pay the amount that they would be forced to send 2 deputies to my house to detain me for 30-60 days. They stated that if I hung up the phone, I would only be receiving one phone call afterwards and, if I didn’t respond in a timely manner, they would send deputies to my house to detain me. I checked the Sheriffs website and state websites for warrants and pending cases and noticed I had nothing but they said this was a pre-emptive phone call to avoid the criminal process. I only felt comfortable calling them out as scammers after calling the Sheriffs Department and asking if this was legitimate, to which they said “No”. When I told them I knew they were lying, they threatened to come after me, my wife and my children.
