I needed my garage door repaired and googled garage door repair near me and called the first one that popped up which said Olympus garage door repair, LLC. They said they would be here this afternoon and that it was a $19 service fee to come out and assess it, but that they would waive the service fee. If I decided to let them do the repairs once they quoted me a price. He told me it was gonna be $289 and then any additional charges would be for any extra parts he needed to use that I didn’t have so I said OK. He fixed it and then told me that the total was $442 which I Zelle him. Then he said no I said it was $1442! So somehow we went from quoting $289 to almost $1500 just to have him put my garage door back on the tracks with the wheels I already had And all the parts I already had. I asked for an itemized list and he said $19 for the service fee which I told him was supposed to be waived and he agreed so he took that off, then he said he had to replace all of the wheels on the garage door and that they were $65 apiece… I had every single wheel for the garage door already so I told him no I don’t need his wheels that mine were fine so he said OK I’ll charge you $30 or $32 for each wheel then like he knew he messed up and still charged me for something I didn’t agreed to pay for it and that I didn’t need. And then he said the steel bar that he put at the bottom of the garage door was 500 extra dollars and I said then you need to take the steel bar off now because I’m not paying you anymore money. He proceeded to take it off but told me that the garage door will not work properly without it And left… After he left, I opened and closed the garage door a few times and it is working just fine without the steel bar. Upon further investigation, I see that the website I found him on every time I click refresh on that website their phone number changes, and I know the average cost for the repairs he did today should’ve been around $100-$200 so I was still scammed out of about $250.
