Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
and missed the call so I called back. I got customer service. I was told that I purchased a vacation package from another company (not disclosed who it was) and owe them about $2096 for not taking it as that was in the verbal contract that I would take the timeshare tour within a certain time period. I told him I have never heard that recording and we had no intention of taking that trip. I have no idea why I would have bought it as we don't go to Florida anymore (11 years since we were last there for vacation). I asked for a copy of the letter that was sent to me as I don't recall ever receiving it or any warning that I had to take this vacation or pay more money. He said that if this happened then I needed to be prepared to have my credit card charged before I receive that letter as it will happen even if my card doesn't exist anymore. The credit card company would listen to the tape and charge me, even if the card was stopped in the past (like my Discover card which was charged in the past so the number was changed). He did not give me the credit card number that was used so I am unsure if it's a current card or not. His phone rang and he put me on hold for 5 min then said that he was on the line trying to get this straightened out so I didn't have to pay. I was put on hold again for another 20 minutes. Then he said that I was going to be charged and receive a letter from my credit card company that states I need to pay $2096. He could not give me the last 4 of the card or any info about the card "due to security". I called back when he hung up on me and asked to be transferred to the expired accounts. I spoke with Joe Moon. CSA worldclass travel in 2013. He said I have 3 others that were resolved with Omega. He said that if I don't pay the 598 now, then I won't be charged the 2096. I asked them what card the have is a "preferred visa or mastercard" and he can't tell me. He told me the charge would be from Newport Travel, not CSA as Shawn told me. He did a 3 way call with Shawn. He says the only choices are pay now and keep the vacation or pay the original balance. He said that if I don't take advantage of it now, I get no vacation and am charged 2096. Other companies involved with account are the booking company, the marketing group (Newport) and he refused to continue to explain this process to me. Shawn Mr. Moon to disconnect the call. He continued to try to get me to buy the 598 to "fulfill" the package but I told him I wanted to deal with Newport directly. He hung up. I cannot find Newport Travel or Omega in FL on the internet or BBB.
