A man with a European foreign accent pulled up to my house one day while my 70 year old father was home alone and gardening in our front yard. He told him he does blacktop driveway work and it looks like we should have ours replaced. My father showed him the garage floor because it was lifted from a tree root. He said he can repair that as well. Upon saying this, he asked if he could start chipping up the driveway so he can see the roots. He then pulled his truck up and started ripping it out before offering any contract or agreement. At that point my father felt he couldn't say no. The man said he will come tomorrow with a crew and start the job. He said it'll be $16,500 for blacktop replacement of the front and side driveways, as well as a new cemented garage floor. He also said he'll do the siding for the garage and will replace the windows and the side door. The next day, he came with a crew of two workers and started demolition to the inside of our garage. This work included removing the tree roots, and cleaned out all our belongings and brought them out to the backyard with a tarp over it. The following day they came back and replaced the windows and side door. After this, they asked for some money to cover the cement delivery truck and vinyl siding that he claimed he ordered. He said it will be coming from New Jersey because it's an 'out of stock' item and will take a few days. Over a week had passed, and we heard nothing back. We called a few times over the next 2 weeks and never received a call back since. It's been over a month and we still have not heard anything back.

This lead me to my own investigation and after looking up the phone number in Google, I found the business' name and website. The website 1) looks like it was AI generated 2) links to another company's Instagram account, and 3) the Facebook page had photos from yet another construction company (one of the lawn signs in the photo had a phone number of of a company in Massachusetts). Also, the information from the website did not line up with the information on the Facebook page, as one said it's been in business for 15 years, while another has been in business since 2019. The only 'like' on the pictures on the Facebook page included from a man named 'Christopher McDonagh', whom very much resembles the man who approached my father in one of the default photos.
