Type of a scam Other
Every month when I pay my (contract-less) METROPCS phone bill on their website (https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/payment), checking out as a Guest, with my bank debit card, I get a payment confirmation via text to my (same) phone number. Immediately afterwards, I also always start receiving all of these ads, via text, from other different #'s. I never respond to these, or, I send: STOP (only), or, just delete them. Well, this past Oct/'22, I got the normal barrage of texts & one, claiming to be from METROPCS caught my attention. It said that I had won a tablet & that I only had to pay S&H (less than $10, cannot remember exactly), to receive it. I thought it might be a scam, but, it seemed legit enough to give a shot as I thought I could give the tablet to my husb. for Christmas. Later, these charges were put onto my same debit card: $5.84 on 11/7; $6.84 on 11/7; $139.74 on 11/14; $134.34 on 11/24. I inquired of my bank, (WESTFIELD), who these charges were from, they gave me: ClassicCardWellBeing (#1-866-561-3649) & CrazyforEverydayTech (#1-877-430-3590); when I called the #'s (on the wknd), the recordings sounded identical & & no one was in. Today (11/28) I got thru (to the #ending: 3649), & the female Rep (in a noisy American Call Ctr, with other reps talking VERY LOUDLY/FIRMLY to consumers (no doubt yelling in complaint of their charges). The Rep said that she could remove the 2 larger charges but not the lesser ones! She said that I was paying for "initial charges" and for a "meal planning app," of which I have never heard of/used! Also, I will NOT be getting a tablet, just entered into a monthly drawing, whereby they give out ONE tablet per month. She said that I agreed to these charges in the Terms & Conditions of the texts. She said that the larger charges will be refunded in 3-5 days. I told her that I do NOT give them permission for ANY more deductions & that I do not WANT to use any of their apps! I will be explaining this to my bank. I don't know if there is anything else I can do, or, if you can help get my lesser charges back, or, the larger ones if they are not refunded as promised? Thank you!
