The scammer is a car dealer. On 2023/12/09, I deposited an initial amount of $1000 in order to secure the purchase of a Honda Civic 2017. Alongside this initial deposit, I conscientiously signed the bill receipt, which I understood to be a valid proof of my deposit. The receipt contained essential information about the vehicle, the initial deposit, and the total amount due. Regrettably, on the second day following the payment, I discovered that the vehicle which dealer offered me was, in fact, a totaled car, despite his claim of it being a clean title. Upon thorough examination of the Carfax report, it became apparent that there was an attempt to deceive me by presenting a totaled car as one with a clean title. Consequently, I decided to retract my initial deposit. Upon contacting the dealer to request a full refund, I was disappointed to encounter resistance. Despite my clear reasons for seeking a refund and the evident misrepresentation of the vehicle's condition, I was only refunded $500 out of the $1000 initial deposit. This falls significantly short of the full amount, and I am troubled by the refusal to acknowledge the discrepancy between the represented clean title and the actual status of the vehicle. I trust that this matter can be resolved amicably, and I urge you to look into this matter. I appreciate your attention to this issue and anticipate a swift and satisfactory resolution. Please note I haven't signed any other paper and didn't move forward with the financing process. Also on the bill receipt, nothing was mentioned that the initial deposit is partially refunded or non-refunded.
