I placed an order for what had been advertised as a "Flash Sale" on Thursday, 7/4/2024. I acknowledged pricing was ordinarily low, however, it isn't out of the norm for some shops to mark items down for a specific amount of time to drive business. I thought nothing of it until I received a delivery notification for the chair and storage within an hour of submitting the order. I immediately contacted TikTok to file a complaint, and they assured me of an open investigation, moving forward. After submitting the complaint, the store's products had been taken down. I cannot confirm if the seller took them down, or if Tiktok suspended the account. It is my firm belief that this business is part of a ring of scammers who target TikTok users - Five other sellers did the same thing today. Sellers are legally required to supply products that comply with the information provided to customers, however, instead, I was defrauded. and my personal information is in the wrong hands. I feel extremely uncomfortable. I will be submitting complaints for the other businesses as well. Please note that the email and telephone numbers provided are my own. TikTok does not provide seller contact information. Thank you for your support.

The seller contacted me on TikTok, requesting that I reply with my contact details for "order updates". I sent my cell # and received the following text on my cell shortly after.

"Please note that you need to pay $30 for CLEARANCE FEE. This is for the safety arrival of your item. Your order payment is confirmed and your TRACKING ID IS READY. You're to pay $30 for a shipping fee now so we can label and seal your package to the delivery man and it's will be refund back once our delivery (2 emoji trucks)arrives and delivery takes 24 hours. To arrive at your doorstep."

By then, I had contacted TikTok to file a complaint. I shared the text message with the representative and she assured me of an open investigation, moving forward. She also confirmed all shipping fees must be paid at the time of checkout, and that she also believed I'd been defrauded and that it would not be tolerated. After requesting an explanation of why, I never heard back from the seller. After submitting the complaint with TikTok's customer service, the store's products had been taken down. I cannot confirm if the seller took them down, or if Tiktok suspended the account. It is my firm belief that this business is part of a ring of scammers who target TikTok users - Five other sellers did the same thing today. Sellers are legally required to supply products that comply with the information provided to customers, however, instead, I was defrauded. and my personal information is in the wrong hands.
