Opinion outpost Reports & Reviews (12)

One of these 'fill out a survey, earn points where you can redeem for gift cards' sites. Basically a giant ripoff of your time, took surveys for about 2 weeks, earn enough points to redeem for $15 in Amazon gift cards. Go to redeem, get error messages. Jump through their 'suggested fixes' still nothing. Send an email to customer service, they get back 5 days later stating "The accuracy and attentiveness of your account activity has been flagged, and upon review have been forced to suspend your account".

No further follow up on what I did or did not do wrong, more upset in time wasted and my personal information out there than the loss of financial monies for time spent.

I don't know if I originally received an email, but I received a check for $2,350.00 payable through U.S. Bank. The company on the check had nothing to do with Opinion Outpost or the address in AL, it was from a school in CA. The letter told me to cash the check, buy four $500 gift cards from four local retail stores (they listed APPLESTORE - WALMART - KROGER - WALGREENS and we don't even have some of those stores where we live) and then text them at 802-348-1072 so they can give me further instructions. The check looks legitimate, EXCEPT for the bank logo - it is off sized and I have gotten other checks from the same bank so I knew it looked weird. It was also interesting that the "salary" was $300 and then there was $50 listed as leftover... say what???? None of it made sense to me. So I contacted the bank and I reviewed the ScamPulse.com website. Then I shredded everything. Also to note - my check came from a Stacy Brannon 30 County Road 1288 Vinemont AL 35179-5800 who paid $7.95 to ship priority mail, to make it look official I guess.... but why is she sending when the name on the letter is John Taylor PhD?

The site lets you do surveys for points, which can be redeemed as gift cards. When I went to redeem the points, my account was suddenly frozen, and my attempts to contact them has failed. Total scam.

spent a week earning money and they will not pay.. that never planed on it

Was Contacted for secret shopping job by email. Received a follow up email, then a priority mail with a check for $2,925.00. They wanted me to deposit check in my bank, when the check is clear, i was to purchase 26 gift cards at 2 different locations, then scatch the code, make copies with the purchase receipt and sent to [email protected]. I voided the check. I stopped this before it began.

I just read about these types of scams.

I signed up on LinkedIn to be a Secret Shopper. I received a text that something would be coming by email for my first assignment. I received in the mail an envelope Priority Mail that contained a check for $2925.00 and instructions explaining my assignment. It broke down the expenditures this way: Amt received $2925.00

Salary $ 300.00

5 I-tunes gift card $500.00

2 Walmart Money orders $2000.00 (these are to be left blank)

Shipping & tax $125.00

Then I was to call or email the number supplied to get the address to send the I-Tunes cards and money orders to the next secret shopper and email an assessment form.

The "check" had many errors on it, like no watermark and the box for the verification code was blank(you couldn't scratch it off) and more.

Package arrived and had an Assignment memo specifying what was required to do.

Attn: Shopper 1st assignment:

An unsolicited email was received from "Sarah Jordan" soliciting "Secret Shoppers". After an initial response indicating interest, additional emails were received indicating a Priority Mail would be received explaining the procedure. The sender's email address was shown as "[email protected]. Investigation disclosed that this email address belongs to a man in the Virginia Beach area. A Priority Mail was received with a return address showing Opinion Outpost at 1060 Woodcock Road, Orlando, FL 32803-6228. However, a check of the USPS tracking number showed it was mailed from West Palm Beach, FL. Inside the envelope was a check made out to me in a different font than the rest of the check. The amount was $2,975.00. It is a good forgery, but contains none of the usual security features. It is a cashier's check drawn on "Southland Credit Union" payable through the "First Interstate Bank" of Billings, MT. Included with the check was an "Assignment Memo". It instructed me to purchase 5 iTune cards of $100 each and 2 blank Walmart Money orders of $1,000 each. It then instructs me to keep my "salary" of $300 and mail everything else to "another secret shopper". It states that I should request the mailing address for that shopper by emailing "[email protected] Phone: 985) 235-9182" along with the included "Assessment Form". Both the "Assignment Memo" and "Assessment Form" had a black line running top to bottom about 2" in from the right side of the page. A Google search of the return address previously mentioned shows two different companies offer a "virtual office" that can be set up at that address for $79 per month. A very similar scam to this one is described in the following article from a TV station in Richmond, VA. Don't be fooled.

I am a part time college student with a busy schedule looking to make some extra money when I can. I came across a pintrest post reccomenting Opinions Outpost. After registering, it kept asking me to complete my profile by asking me an insane amount of personal questions and this kept happening and I was never able to get to taking surveys. What kind of website needs the birthdays of everyone in your household? the make, model, year, and if your car is paid off? a list of electronics you own and if you have a security system?

All I got for my time was spam emails and a headache. As soon as I tried to cash out $14.30 into paypal my account was frozen.

- Charlotte, NC, USA

Signed up with Opinion Outpost online - they sent me an email saying I would receive a check soon, and what to do with it. I received a check in my name for 1500.00 that I'm supposed to take to Walmart and send money to someone else. Did not feel right, so I'm reporting it.
