Like the first complainer about this company I was contacted the same way. I received an email that said it was from universalpicturesacquisitions.com and was addressed to orionsmediaagency.com. I was CCed on the email. The email used one of the official logos of Universal Pictures and stated that my novel was being considered for a movie project and that the agency should respond to universal soon. I immediately sent an email to OrionsMediaAgency.com asking for an explanation since I have never talked to them and didn't have a contract with them. I included my phone number. When Orions Media Agency contacted me then next week, they explained the situation, said that they would sign a contract with me once my book was selected by Universal, and then asked if I had all of the information needed to be provided to universal. I had everything except a trailer for the book. I was not understanding why a trailer was needed to evaluate a book and when I asked that I didn't get an answer. The person then said that they needed $5500 to produce the trailer. I started thinking that trailers are for movies and are usually excerpts from the finished file. I couldn't understand how you could shoot a trailer for something which there was no screenplay. This sounded like a scam so I told them that I might go forward with the $5500 purchase but would have to get back to them in a couple of days.

I then proceeded to do due diligence on the two organization. I found some information on the company and noted that the email address of a person in the company ended in gmail.com. I then tried the Better Business Bureau and what I got was not very nice and I then decided to try what the first complainer about this company did and I ran an Internet WHOIS search on the web sites. Both the Orions Media Agency site and the Universal Pictures Acquisitions site were both registered in February of this year to an anonymous person in Reykjavik, IS. The more I thought about it the more it sounded like a scam so no money changed hands but I think other authors should be warned about this company before someone gets scammed for big money.
