The process seemed very professional. The custom dresses listed on their website looked beautiful and high quality, the Google reviews were stellar, and it did not look like a scam. I contacted the company and Emalyia reached out to me and set up a call with me. I paid a sketch fee of $250 for a sketch of what my dress would look like, and since I loved the sketch, I decided to go ahead and hire Osio Mita. I paid a deposit of $2190 on August 3rd, 2022, and the $250 was credited to my invoice as an incentive for hiring Osio Mita.
After a revisions process, I approved what the fabric would look like on October 13, 2022, which Emalyia sent as an example of what the fabric they recommended would look like (Figure 2). I approved the final sketch on October 26, 2022 (Figures 1.0 and 1.1). After this, there was some communication via email to discuss dress color, inquire about accessories and revisions, etc. but most of this time was spent waiting for examples of the dress.
I paid the remaining balance ($2000) on October 26, 2022, per Emalyia's instructions: "Once we receive the remaining balance we can start and adjust anything if needed."
On August 21, 2023, I received the photos of what was supposed to be the final product (Figures 6.0, 6.1, and 6.2). The design that was executed was not what I approved. I reached out to Emalyia that same day to share my dissatisfaction and we scheduled a call to discuss on August 22, 2023. On that call, she said she would inquire about a "fair and reasonable" solution, but on August 24, 2023, their "Corporate" said they would give me neither a full nor partial refund on this dress. I responded on August 28, 2023, requesting a re-evaluation by August 30, 2023, but have yet to receive an answer. At this point, I do not even know if they have shipped the dress, but I asked them not to since it was not what I had paid for. Regardless, I am out over $4000 without the merchandise or communication from the company.
Since sending that email, I have received a 403 error when I try to visit their website (leading me to believe that they blocked my IP address), and I believe this is because I reverse-image searched some of the dresses Osio Mita claims are “custom” on their Instagram and website, and found that they are for sale on other websites and across the web (Figures 3.0-3.3, Figures 4.0-4.3, Figures 5.0-5.2). I let them know what I have found, and it seems that they are trying to block me so that I do not continue to collect this data.
I am at a loss. My wedding is on November 4, 2023 - I am out $4000+ and have since had to purchase another dress since my time is limited.
Just to reiterate. The business model at Osio Mita is to use fake pictures from their competitors, charge thousands of dollars for a custom dress, demand payment up front, and then send a cheaply made dress that is of very poor quality and looks nothing at all like the product that was promised.
- Dress was delivered via Fedex, we have proof of delivery from FedEx it was delivered to address on file as well as we emailed her for verification.
- Client refused dress before received dress with no basis for comment “ lack of quality” it is impossible to assess quality based on a picture of dress on mannequin that bears no body or form. Since shipping dress client never responded with any concerns of quality. We made it very clear to client if she received dress and had concerns she could reach out.
- client had full control over the design of dress. We have several pictures of sketch and dress notating every detail that was in conjunction with what client physically chose based on fabric lace and or silhouette. As well as the dress matching the sketch in every detail.
-client was emailed alternative options but we never heard back from client.
- No pictures are fake they are styles we sell and any client may choose to design their own dress or choose from our catalog and edit as they see fit. We are very involved at each step and each client physically chooses every detail. We have thorough pictures to show that this design matches the sketch that was presented to client.
S.Brown it is illegal to make allegations when you are in fact not the client nor have the necessary information to validate such facts and have not been served. We stand by our quality and craftsmanship. We respectfully ask you remove your comment or necessary steps will be taken toward actual client and you as well for false slanderous accusations.
