I called a 24/7 locksmith service at approx 3am Monday July 3rd. On the phone, the locksmith dispatch said it was $50, and if the job is more than 5 mins it will cost more. We agreed, the locksmith who showed up saying this is a 5 min job and he usually charges $270-300 to do this service. When we asked why, he said because it's the middle of the night, which makes no sense because we weren't told this on the phone, and this is a 24/7 service! He said this price includes no damage to the door but he will take $250 cash. Obviously we don't want our door damaged and feel extremely uncomfortable by the situation. So we agreed. He unlocked the door after 3-5 minutes. There was still damage to the door. When I attempted to give him the $250 cash, he wouldn't leave and proceeded to make inappropriate remarks and ask personal questions like "what's going on, where are you from" in a flirtatious inappropriate way after his 5 min job was complete. Thankfully my older sister was behind the door listening, and had to barge into the room to remind him that his job was done and to take the cash and leave. Aside from scamming us for an additional $200 he was extremely intimidating and inappropriate. We were both fearful for our safety. He knows my full name, home address and my sister's phone number because that's where we called from. I'm scared to think what would happen i was alone! we are both traumatised from being scammed and made to feel extremely uncomfortable and safety at risk if we didn't comply with this new price! I called the company today (Tues July 4 2023) reporting this situation and asking to be reimbursed $200 (even though in my opinion we deserve a full refund for the trauma and he deserves to be fired) The dispatcher i spoke with today seemed to understand my situation and seemed concerned, and said she would speak to the manager, so I was hopeful to at least get a $200 refund. The owner or manager called me 5 minutes later, and as i was explaining what happened, she proceeded to interrupt me to "give me a lesson on locksmith services" all while screaming at me that i'm "NO WAY getting a refund and what are you even going to tell a lawyer". I'm absolutely appalled by this experience. We were absolutely taken advantage of. After looking at the reviews, it's clear the positive are fake and many others have been scammed in a similar way. What wikipedia shows as "locksmith scam" is what happened to us, along with inappropriate conduct.
