A family member joined this dating site. The candidate they picked called for several weeks, but said he travelled and could not meet until he returned from a long-term construction project. She continued to exchange messages through the site, but then he asked for her number, and email and they began contact thru her personal email, and phone calls. The phone calls increased and soon he told her that he had fallen in love and couldn't wait to meet her. Next he told her his project was not going as plan, and he did not have the funds to complete the work, so he could get paid and come home. He then asked if she could extend him a short-term loan, so he could complete the work. She said she did not have access to the funds. He told her she could send gift cards, or take and advance from a credit card. He was very convincing, and she took and advance on her credit card and sent him $5000. Then the calls really increased, and the romantic message, flowers, etc. started. Of course he then asked for more money. She notified family and friends that she had been deceived. She cancelled her membership with Ourtime and the refunded her, but that did not stop the scammer, who now added other people as reference to prove his character. They called continually, so we blocked phone numbers, but then they just used a different phone number. We had to change her phone number, email and all account passwords as they were relentless. Of course she feels foolish and cannot believe it happened to her. She is a senior citizen and widow, and had been encouraged by friends to try the online dating system. One of the accomplice that he said to send the money too (his assistant) was named Antoinette Mazza, 3310 Chartwell PL, Suwanee, GA 30024-1193 which we reported to that towns Crime Stoppers. We also reported the man's name to the Kansas Crime Stoppers, but I am sure they are fake names, addresses, etc. Just wanted to warn others of this deceitful practice, and to let them know that Dating Sights are not vetted and that people may not be who they say or appear to be. BE CAREFUL!!
