I checked out the OCO website and did reviews online that indicated they were legit; this was during the height of COVID-19; their online presence indicated they were all working with high volume and short staff; email was the only way to work with them (clue 3). And here is the killer phrase on the website, "10 day money back if your are not satisfied with your purchase. " If it is too good to be true, it probably is." (Clue 4)
Long story short, I wired $12,500.00. Over the course of 3 weeks I found out these guys were fraudulent online operation; the website was taken down and the email of the seller was also shut down; I found this out after the chill in my bones said check to see if they are still up and running. THEY WERE GONE, JUST LIKE THAT!
I lost $6,900.00. I reported this fraud to my bank, the OCO bank, (East/West), the FTC and FBI. I recouped $5,600.00 due to my fraud claim from perpetrator's bank.
In the moment, I missed all the clues telling me this was NOT a good idea.
