Type of a scam Online Purchase
I bought a medium size Carhartt Jacket from an online retailer. The jacket, according to Carhartt is an illegal knockoff and the size is Extra Large. The company refused to fully refund me. Citi Cards rejected my dispute.
Here are the facts:
The order
I, against better judgment, clicked on an online link advertising a Carhartt Casual Women’s Vintage” jacket for $62.97. (See item #2 the enclosed ad)
I ordered a medium size. (See the enclosed receipt showing size Medium)
The Delivered Product
When the order arrived from OutdoorGearChoice.com was not a Medium as I ordered but an Extra-Large. (See Item #3 receipt showing order for Medium size)
I decided to take the jacket to a local Carhartt Store to exchange it and they said that it was an illegal knockoff. It was not a Carhartt jacket and selling it as such is illegal.
My communication with OutdoorGearChoice.com
I contacted the company and stated that:
1. The jacket was not a genuine Carhartt. The company refused to acknowledge that the product was fraudulent. They simply did not respond to this exchange.
2. The size sent was not a Medium but an Extra Large They did acknowledge that they sent the Extra Large. They said they did this because the “products are smaller than usual so we sent the larger one.”
Their Offer to fix the problem.
They would only send me a refund if, at my cost, if I shipped the oversized and fraudulent jacket back to them in China not New Jersey where they claim to be based.
This is what they said after one month of delay (see item #4 correspondence)
“If you insist on returning, please return the item to the following address. But we suggest you check the shipping before you return, it may cost you a lot of money.” “After you return, then we will refund … it may take us a long time.”
Given that they had already proven to be a fraudulent company, I was, as you might expect, not willing to send them the jacket and wait for a refund that in their own words would “take a long time.”
