Received a text message about a package that was sent to me. The text also stated that it was for my first assignment. I was not home at the time. Upon checking my mail I found the package. After opening it I found a check for the amount of $1870.00. The first thing that I did was to call the Credit Union. The official there informed me that the check is fraudulent. The letter included with the check stated that I was to cash it and keep $350.00. After talking to the Credit Union, I sent a text to both numbers that I have been told that check was fraudulent.

received a "priority mail" envelope from Bass Pro Shops in San Antonio, TX, in it was a check for $2890 and an instruction letter. I was to cash the check at MY bank, keep a portion and use the balance to purchase Walmart gift cards. Once purchased, I was to take clear pictures of the cards including the pins and codes plus answer 6 questions about the purchasing process and then send it all to the email and text the pictures to 1 of the numbers listed above. The Credit Union the check is drawn on is legit, not sure if the check is or not...but this obviously didn't come from Bass Pro Shops...definitely a scam.

Contacted initially by text to apply as a secret shopper for Walmart

Then received a cashiers check with instructions on how to cash it and purchase Walmart gift cards spending 2500.00 and keep the remainder for my fee. And to send them pictures of the gift card with the pin revealed.

And to fill out the Walmart evaluation of the transaction.
