Chiropractor, Patrick McCuaig, lured us into listening to a video presentation at a Lubbock restaurant by way of a post card we received in the mail. He paid for the dinner which many attended. He made sure to collect all the postcard invitations once we arrived. At the presentation McCuaig claimed he would heal what conventional medicine could not. We made an appointment for a private consultation where he offered a treatment plan with intermittent therapies so that I could recover full sensation in my right foot. He arranged a payment plan and contract with us for a $6,774. He did not make clear that we were signing a personal third-party loan agreement with a bank, at 10% interest. We thought we were signing an agreement for treatment and payment directly dispersed to him at an interest free rate, as one might for most out of pocket medical services. He told us that our health insurance would not cover any part of the treatment. While the treatment covered 8 weeks of therapies and home equipment for these therapies, I experienced no improvement of my ailment. Also, the following was on my comprehensive treatment plan, but never happened: Educational Classes on Nutrition and Exercise; 12 Week Health Module Curriculum; Daily Nutritional Action Plan; and Daily Motivational Messages from the Doctor. For the ten months that followed my therapy plan, he kept making weekly appointments for me to use their equipment. Furthermore, because I could not recover sensation in my right foot, I tripped and broke my right shoulder while trying to walk into my standing shower. I had to discontinue these weekly machine sessions. He didn’t offer an explanation of why those sessions were needed and offered no follow up consultation to determine what was and wasn’t working. I have asked McCuaig’s office several times for a copy of my contract agreement. They tell they cannot give me a copy because they no longer have it on file or on their hard drives. This is a significant red flag. Please protect other elders/senior citizens from being prey to Patrick McCuaig. We have spent a from our delicate retirement income on a service that did nothing to improve my foot condition. At no moment did Patrick McCuaig offer to refund us a portion of our expense in spite of his inability to follow through with results and in spite of laying a personal loan on us without our consent. This is a scam in approach and follow through to the customer. Beware, because the pathos or this chiropractor is one of a “Christian Good Samaritan” while his aim is to take advantage of senior citizens, their trust, fragility and lack of information.
