I was contacted via email in regards to my resume on Indeed. Company name was Parqel, which is associated with a larger company known as Viofree,Inc. This company states it is a third party storage handler. Which means it thrives on good customer service and utilizes civilians homes as storage facilities so that shipping costs are cheaper for companies. I was offered the position via email and then scheduled for a phone interview. Everything went well and proceeded to the training portion which required me to read numerous documents on how to process packages, then sign using Docusign, that I read all the materials and understood the processes. For the first 30 days this was considered the “probationary period” and if all went well during that time I would be offered a full time position at the end of the 30 days.
At the 30 day mark I was contacted by payroll via email congratulating me on the completion of my probationary period and informed that my paycheck for the 30 days had been mailed that day. I was told to expect my check within 7 days. I was also informed that my supervisor would contact me in the next 10 days regarding whether or not I would be offered a permanent position with the company. Needless to say l have not received a paycheck or been contacted by anyone with the company. The companies website has been removed/inaccessible, all email address are considered invalid and bounce back to my inbox. I do not know what to do other than feel shamed that I let myself fall into this trap. Sadly I was also instructed to submit tax documents due to being considered a “contract employee” during my probationary period. I will now have to contact powers regarding potential identity theft.
