Passport Reports & Reviews (8)

I searched to renew my passport online, and this site was the first to pop up. Like others that reported this site, I provided all information to renew my passport online. This included my social and passport number. I was charged a fee and then received the typical "pdf" attachment in an email to print and then send in. This is the same application that you can print for free and fill out. The website doesn't list the country of origin or provide any real information.

My son was applying for a passport and did not know he needed to go to a government site. This web site appeared near the top of his search results. He filled out an online form with his SSN, physical characteristics and other personal information. He thought he was submitting the application for a passport, he paid the fee and then was sent an email with a link to the fillable PDF form with instructions to send the application through an official government site. He then realized he had just paid for something of no value and provided personal information. My main concern is what will happen to the personal info. When I called the customer service line, the rep said that they can't see the data and once the link expires, the data goes away. But I work in IT and I do not believe that is true. The site does state in fine print what the service is that they provide, so they are not scamming per se, just misleading people who don't know better, getting money for nothing and doing who knows what with the SSN and other personal info. Again my concern for myself and for other consumers is the collection of PII and whether they can store it and use it.

I went to this website with intention to renew my passport. I provided this website with a lot of personal information including social security, address, date of birth, phone number, email, gender and physical characteristics.

There was a website at the top of the google search for the keywords "Global Entry", which turned out to be an ad. The website had all the application information required to fill out the Global Entry application (passport, drivers license, addresses, employment history, name, date of birth, phone, email, and credit card payment info). They claim to be a service that helps you apply for Global Entry, as one of the "trusted partners" for the government agency. My credit card company flagged it as fraud and the payment was declined, however they now have all my personal information.

It was a passport expediter website where I thought I was paying for a service to report a lost passport and get a new one. But I ended up paying for a service that gave me nothing in return, and I gave out my Social Security number.
