I posted an ad on Facebook marketplace. The scammer messaged me through Facebook messenger saying they wanted to buy the item. They said please text me at this phone number. I called the phone number instead and it just rang and rang. I then texted the phone number and they said I will send you a verification code please respond with a six digit code so I know that you’re the real seller. I did just that and they responded the code wasn’t the correct one. Then they asked if I had access to another cell phone to try it with. Unfortunately I gave them my husbands cell phone number and they sent a code to him and we sent it back to them. At this time we realize we had fallen prey to a marketplace scam and want to report this.
