I received a debt collection letter from TRANSWORLD SYSTEMS INC., on 10-11-24, in my daughters name (original creditor: UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH PHYSICIANS). Because I believed that my daughter (who is now an adult and no longer lives with me) was a minor when the original charges were allegedly incurred, I was curious as to why her name was on the bill instead of mine, as well as believing I had already paid these charges approximately two years ago. Additionally, there are no service dates listed on the second page of said bill and, as such, I don't know what the charges are for, specifically; I've received bills from Transworld before and this has never been the case. When I called the number listed on the bill (866-663-8609), the recording told me 1. to listen carefully because the number I had dialed may have changed, 2. "calls are recorded for quality assurance," 3. that I had been selected for a $100 voucher, 4. to press "1" to receive it; there weren't any other prompt options, so I did press "1." This connected me to a lady, whose name I didn't catch, who congratulated me on being selected for the voucher and asked me for my name. I replied that I was not interested in the voucher and would not give her my name and I requested that she connect me to someone who could help me with the bill that was sent to me. She responded that she could not do that until I provided my information for the voucher and she, once again, asked for my name. I, again, told her that I was not interested in the voucher/would not give her my name and only wanted to speak with someone who could help me with my bill, to which she responded that I was talking to her because of the prompt I had initially chosen. I responded that it was the only prompt I was offered and she then, again, asked for my name. This went on for 3 mins 27 secs, until I hung up on her. I called the number back and pressed "0" in hopes of reaching the correct department for the bill and was routed to a different person asking for the same information about receiving my voucher and I immediately hung up. I found a different phone number for Transworld, online, and was able to speak to a representative (Brittany Lewis) and, though she was not able to help me with the bill, I did tell her about my experience with what I perceive as a fraudulent phone number/experience. To reiterate, I have dealt with Transworld before and have never been offered a voucher, transferred to what appeared to be an out-of-country department, or been refused the service of discussing the bill that they had sent to me.
