On April 13, 2024 PayPal advised they believed an unauthorized request for payment of $499.00 was made against my PayPal account. PayPal denied the request thinking it was made by a scammer. I called PayPal to confirm I did not make the purchase and thanked them for denying the request. To protect myself I closed my PayPal account. On April 18, 2024 I received an email from the scammer posing as PayPal requesting payment of the $499.00. The scammer addressed the email as being from PayPal requesting I call +1-808-892-3594 select option 5 to make the $499.00 payment. I contacted PayPal who confirmed my account is closed and they did not send the request for payment to me. I sent a copy of the request for payment email to PayPal at [email protected].
