On August 13th I was contacted by Ms.Lee Crane via Facebook, using IM as a form of privacy. That should have been my first and last Red Flag. She was a friend of my father's when she lived here in Florida. Since moving to Maryland we were not in touch. I never wronged her or did anything to bother her. I was respectful when she was with my father. She was a clean-cut woman, well spoken, well dressed and soft spoken. I would never would suspect her, an 85-year old woman to con me. Of all people, I am a kind soul, big heart and nice. She got right to the point and asked me if I heard about the Publisher Clearing House (PCH) Covid-19 Census Bonus Grant program. At which time, I wrote her back indicating that I have not heard about the program. She continued to write and told me to contact a very nice man who runs the Grant Program for PCH and gave me a link to reach him. His name is Fitzpatrick Benson. I contacted him and asked him about the grant program. He asked me several personal questions gender, age and name of my telephone carrier. I gave Fitzpatrick Benson my information. I did NOT give him my date of birth, SS number, bank info or any sensitive info of that nature. After much research, I now know he does does have the last four digits of both my TD Bank
debit card and my TD Bank visa card. I've been reviewing the receipts and it clearly says form of payment with the name of the card and last four digits of both my TD Bank Visa and last four of my TD Bank Debit card. After many interactions with Fitzpatrick, I sensed I was being scanned. I haven't sent any more gift cards since yesterday and will not send him any further information or have any contact with him. I am a sixty-year-old woman and I live with my father and my dog. I am very scared now that this man knows where I live. I am also devastated about the loss of money. I am disabled and get a small disability check from Social Security every month. So this is a huge monetary loss for me, totaling $1,900. I always considered myself to be someone intelligent and this has mentally set me back. I was at one time a savvy Manhattanite, who lived alone for 21 years. I am shocked that I allowed this to happen. Right before my eyes I got scammed. There were several red flags and I knew something striking was happening, so I kept questioning Ms. Crane and the Ring Leader himself, Fitzgerald Benson about the legitimacy of this Grant. From the start I was weary. I photographed everything, including a picture of himself, all messages to/from him. I also saved messages from anyone dealing with him. Then one morning I noticed Ms. Crane was no longer on Instant Messenger and had erased all her instant messages of our conversations, before I got a chance to copy them. I kept questioning her and she remained very calm and cool and insisted that he was legitimate. I don't want to put all the blame on her she just was following directions. In fact, she then sent me a text message and explained that somehow her stuff was erased. Another Red Flag!
This is my fault and I am paying the price. Fitzpatrick Benson also got the Federal Express truck driver to call me and told me he was on the way to my home with the winning envelope. His name is Wayne Chambliss and his number is 210-307-4193. The very next morning Fitzpatrick Benson sent me pictures of the driver telling me he had a bad truck accident. He actually sent me a picture of Wayne (I don't even know what he looks like) on a stretcher being wheeled into an ambulance. The picture is so far-fetched it's hysterical and I still sent him the e-bay gift cards. There are many more details like pictures of Federal Express boxes with my name on it, certificates addressed to me and all the things that sent Red Flags. Taking this a step further, Fitzpatrick Benson is either in cahoots or has three men now posing as employees of eBay. These guys are very brazen and have been contacting me via text and telephone and will not stop. I asked them very nicely to stop and they keep at it. They are now telling me they are going to refund the money if I buy them eBay cards. I know this story doesn't sound real but it is. My first point of contact at e-Bay was with a guy who goes by the name of Mike at 408-877-3351. I called to tell him what was going on and that I think I was being scammed. He indicated he's in the billing department at eBay. I received both calls and texts from Mike. His Enghlish was so poor, I asked to be connected to someone else. He then put me in touch with his supervisor by the name of Daniel Coleman, Senior Billing Manager, eBay at 408- 877-3351 Ext. 1002. Daniel then told me that he would credit back both my Visa and debit cards. I was very appreciative and thought the nightmare was over. However the next day I checked both accounts and nothing showed up. I sent Daniel a text and he responded to me. He requested that I purchase two eBay gift cards and do the exact same thing as Fitzpatrick Benson did. His reason was that their system was down and he would refund ALL monies due back to me using the card. In all honesty, I was totally lost and no idea how that would work out. I purchased two cards and sent them out the same way using Facebook's Instant Messenger with a screenshot of the scratched off Redemption Code on the back of the card with the receipt and activation portion of the receipts. They were from Rick Reeves, CFO e-Bay at 206-426-1323, who is extremely rude and aggressive. He said the only way I will get a refund is if I send more cards to them. At this point I have done nothing else and will not.
This basically wraps it up. I have so much correspondence, pictures and I tried to do a test by sending it to myself but was unsuccessful.
