I received a text on10/12/2018 about a job as a mystery shopper, went to their website and applied.the first number is:1-203-587-0657that the text came from, two weeks later I got another text from:1-409-220-5217 saying that funds for my first assignment would be mailed out to me.and just last Friday 10/26/2018 two envelopes arrived, priority mail no less, inside one was a check for $997.00 from a bank called:centrus,in the other was a money order in the same amount with instructions that later didn't match what I was told via text.i was to shop walmart or walgreens or other stores for ITunes gift cards in denominations of $50.00,100.00 but not 200.00,to scratch 0f the back take pictures ofthem, send this back to them.

The company is Pebbles Survey Inc I received an e-mail from my college workforce study but the scammers must have been a part of this as well. It says it is a mystery shopper which I have done in the past and thought things might have changed. The guy goes by David Bodin and asks for your address and then sends you a check by certified mail and it looks legit. Along with the check are instructions on your assignments and what to do before and after. They say to notify them when you deposit the check which mine was in the amount of $2,500 and $300 of that being compensation and then the instructions I specifically got was that I was to go to an apple store buy two gift cards in the amount of 1,100 and just note how the employees interacted and fill out form after and send pictures of gift card and form before sending out of e-mail. I automatically called my bank before making this far but I did deposit the check which I called before the hold was lifted on the check. What they usually do is that the check is somewhat cleared people spend the money and then the scammers get the gift cards with the money and then we are out of the money when the check eventually bounces. BEWARE it looked very real and the e-mail when corresponding even has a legit looking website but not with a lot of info after I took a second look I decided to call my bank because I realized it was a fraud.

BEWARE

Was sent an email from career center from my college for a market survey to make extra cash. Filled out the application and about 2 weeks later get a notice that my application was approved. Asked for my address and phone so they can send my first survey assignment. Seemed legitimate especially since the college sent it. Get the assignment Monday and like others there is a check/money order in there for $2500. They want you to go and buy 2 $1100 Apple gift cards and then of course text them the codes and they will supposedly release the money to you. As soon as I seen the check I knew it was a scam and have since blocked them from my phone and email. In this day and age you’d think that people would grow up or get caught and punished but I’m hoping someone will do their research before deciding to try and sign up with the company.
