My dad had to go to Walmart and wire transfer money to pay the taxes to get the big payout. He had to open various bank accounts for this imposter and take out commercial lines of credit. My dad had to buy scratch off gift cards and read the numbers to the thief...This crushes my heart that my dad was trying so hard to have money for his family. My dad has worked so hard all his life as a dairy farmer, and right after he retired is when this all started...My heart breaks for all the elderly people out there that don't even know they might be a victim...
This scammer was so good that he created a fake e-mail address and used it online to open another Wells Fargo account in my dad's name. He was able to control the bank account via a fake g-mail account that my dad knew nothing about. My dad does not know technology and has difficulty seeing and hearing. Wells Fargo has not been helpful in helping to get to the root of this problem.
I've gone to the *** *** Sheriff's Dept. They weren't able to provide help in catching who is behind this. At that time there were investigators that checked to make sure there wasn't a real bomb in the suitcase sent to my dad (supposed to have been the money...). I wanted resources to help online, but I can't find any...
No one will ever be able to give my dad back the time and energy he put into this scammer only to be left with mistrust for our future of people. Until we start working to be proactive in this world, to stop the people hiding behind their technology, people will easily keep stealing from the honest hard workers. Law enforcement workers need to be looking online nowadays, instead of the desolate streets where kids no longer play.
