Purchased a "Perfect gift" $200 Visa giftcard for a gift. We opened it to check the balance after hearing about card scams, including solid white cards being found in the packaging. While our card looks like a Visa giftcard, it is starting to peel apart. We tried to check the balance online which would not work. We called the Vanilla gift phone number on the back 1-800-206-4972 and it didn't connect. I found another phone number online, we connected and she directed me to a new number 1-855-288-0906. This number asks you to enter your giftcard #, and then press 1. After pressing 1, it states it does not recognize the prompt.

We called the complaints line for Peoples Trust company 1-855-694-6214 as per the pamphlet in the packaging, and they too gave the above, not working phone number. No one has been able to assist us in getting a refund. Retailers have pulled these gift cards from their shelves, and believe it is an inside job at BlackHawk (who distributes the giftcards). After being activated and your money added to it, they are taking the money and you are left with a giftcard that does not work. Some people were opening and finding solid white cards inside. Retailers that you purchase from cannot help as they make no money from selling giftcards (they sell for a convenience.)

I just met the same situation, bought 5 cards, each one is $500,they are all activated in front of me,but when i checked the balance.all invalid,+18002064972,this NO. No working at all,i think i only can contact to SDM. Damn it.
