Then the salesperson moved within 2 feet of me to show me a ipad, when I said move back they just kept talking. Total scam. Really gross that is happening during covid. And the sales person was wearing some odd clear plastic face mask. all felt really offside

My wife just told me that our neighbour texted her to say someone representing a pest-control company came to her door to try to sell her a $59/month pest-control protection plan, telling our neighbour we have Brown recluse spiders in Ontario. Speaking as a professional with over 35 years experience in the field of entomology, I can tell you unequivocally that we don't have Brown recluses in Ontario; we are way out of their natural distribution range. The Northern black widow is native to southern Ontario but they are far and few between. So please don't fall for this misinformation that they are trying to scare you with.

I am mostly concerned with ticks, and he made it sound like they can guarantee we wouldn’t have a tick issue which was skeptical to me. He also said the product they use is natural, safe for kids/pets and FDA approved.
He also mentioned a “Susan” just around the corner that’s having issues with ants and uses them. I guess that’s their main tactic.

The one that came to my door was Tyler -> 403-376-5234 (not sure if it is the business number or a personal number)
The people going door-to-door are men & women - some on their own, others in grps of 2; one neighbour saw a man get into a van & drive away. They are also lying to people by saying: your neighbour signed up with us (unbeknownst to them, people know their neighbours & they are naming people who don't live on the street & other neighbours are saying they didn't sign up with the company). They are not leaving business cards due to Covid.
We are under lockdown / stay at home orders - no one should be out doing anything door-to-door.
He said that the neighbour opposite me had signed up and that they're giving discounts only for today because the technicians are driving to my street tomorrow and doing their inspections for all the houses that signed up. (I can't confirm the credibility of his statement as I didn't ask "the neighbours that signed up" )
Thought it was a good deal at first for $59/month for 12 months until I saw this post and panic-cancelled 15 minutes after signing the agreement. I think I would feel better doing my own research and calling a pest control service myself, instead of them coming to me and doing a sales pitch.
