Type of a scam Employment
and would pay $400.00. I returned the email saying I was interested. he said he would send a parcel with a check for client supplies and that my salary would be included along with a list of artist supplies I was to purchase for his clients. My duties were to help him with his art business which frequently took him out of the country. (He was in Australia). A week later I received a check for $2450.50 from a construction company in British Columbia with no instructions. He emailed me to let him know as soon as the check was deposited. When I went to deposit the check, the bank teller alerted me to all the red flags I was too desperate for work to see. A $400.00 a week job didn't seem like a scam to me. She said that likely once I deposited the check that the money would vanish along with all my funds and they would have access to all my account information. I've always know if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Now I know the same is true if it seems too weird. When has an employer ever hired me based only on email without a personal interview and sent me a huge check?!? When looking for work be careful of being desperate! It clouds the judgement of even the most wary of people.
