A return message that they had puppies for Maryland. Thru messenger showed video of 3 yorkies and 2 chihauhaus . I asked about the fluffy black and brown pups which was said to be yorkie. Asked if any were female and the reply was he had one left. Now these puppies were listed under FREE puppies. When asked for more info, the reply was 500. Asked how can it 500 when she was listed under free puppies? I asked to come up to see them and it was not answered. . Asked if the price could be lower and we agreed on 250..00 The person Harun Muskam instructed to give him a check. Told him I preferred using paypal and not to give my direct account info. He had me use paypal friends and family to send payments .He first used the email [email protected]. Apparently he didn't have access and had that cancelled. Then to send 100.00 to [email protected] since that had a paypal account. He was to get the rest when he brought the puppy down from Delaware. Schedule to deliver to an address i gave for Pet Smart , so we could meet in an open space. I would not give him my home address due to COVID 19. To keep contact cleaner. This was scheduled for Tuesday 11/3/20 at 12noon. Tuesday morning he text me to send another 100.00 to [email protected] thru paypal. . Later he insisted that I needed to sent 300.00 to get a document for COVID19 on the puppy. I told him that was not legit and there was no such document. He did not show up at 12noon and I waited till 1:30pm. Then got a text to sent him the 50.00 and he would be here in 3hr. I answered, not until the puppy was in my hands. Again he sent text for me to send the 50.00 and go home and he would deliver. I text back , NO PUPPY NO MORE MONEY. I told him this is sounding more and more like this is a scam. It is having all the red flags of being scammed.
When I spoke with him on the phone, his voice sounded like someone from India or Pakistan or one of the mid eastern countries. So yes I was scammed of 200.00, which I never will see again. As a senior, that is alot of money for me. So PLEASE BEWARE This listing was on the Adopt a Pet site. So scammers are on that site too, not just shelters, breeders and such.

- Austin, TX, USA

I viewed a posting on craigslist and sent them an inquiry for a French bulldog for sale.

The person immediately sent me an email from the first email address used [email protected], he stated his name was Robert Smith.

He claimed to have two puppies from breeders he worked with and asked immediately "where" in the country I was located and specific address, in the email he included several breeders photos that were data stamped for 1/21/2019. That would have made the dogs about 6-7 months old, not the 12 weeks he was claiming.

We agreed to speak over the phone, on the phone he claimed to have been given the dog as a gift from his mother in law. The dog was like a "child" to them, however they needed to find her another home and the re-homing fee would be $450.

On the phone I asked to if the dog had seen a vet and was up to date on all shots and asked him to send me and my husband a copy of the paperwork. He agreed on the phone.

Once off the phone, he sent me a number of texts messages stating he wanted some to provide her with "LOVE AND CARE not someone who asked for vet records". At this point in time he claimed to not be a breeder or work with breeder, which is not what is claimed on his website -- https://pets4rehome.com which I looked up after our phone call. His name on the website was listed as "Gerard"

The website claims to have "Testimonials", the second picture is a photo of Marilyn Monroe -- https://pets4rehome.com/testimonial/.

When he was unable to provide the vet papers, I asked if he could please provide me a photo of the dog currently. He sent me three photos of a completely different breed of dog (the photos were now of a pug). He then got upset, claiming I was "wasting his time" by not simply sending the money and asking "too many questions". He asked me to send the money ($450) through zelle and provided me with a different email address, which was [email protected]. He said he would not provide me with any more information on the dog until I sent the money.

I asked him to confirm the email and his first name since it had not been the one sending messages through, in an attempt to get more identifying information, since at this point it was obvious it was a scam and he was a scam artist. He claimed the email was correct and now claimed his name was "Jolivert".
