PHD Biosciences Reports & Reviews (1)

I received a test message from a person named Kilesia Whitt, HR, PHD Biosciences, 347-418-1777. She texted me stating that a company, PHD Biosciences wanted to interview me for a Data Entry Clerk role (Remote). She instructed me to ensure that I had Microsoft Team installed on my device prior to the interview. When I was contacted through Teams, it was a person named Leya Garbaree. (I found it interesting that name, even though the spelling was missing an "r", appeared in the ScamPulse.com scam tracker here in September 2023. I am SO glad I googled her name and found this scam on the ScamPulse.com scam tracker before I sent them my personal information!!) Offering $27 an hour, work from home, set my own hours, etc. (Wow, too good to be true!) And they would train me and pay me while training! Leya asked me various interview questions that sounded legit. What experience do I have, am I employed at the moment, do I know Excel, what makes me qualified, etc. Then she asked how I would like to be paid (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly). Do I prefer a check or wire transfer? "What bank do you operate?" (Which I thought was an oddly-structured question.) "Do you possess all basic materials like a computer ,scanner ,printer ,copier etc (indicate which you have and don't have )" *I noticed the punctuation was off, but dismissed it, considering it informal in teams. I told them what bank I had an account at, but said I would appreciate speaking in person before sending any banking information. She responded with "I'm not requesting your account information." I agreed with her, but told her I just wanted to mention it. I told her I had office equipment at home. She then asked for my email address to email me a form to fill out. It went to my junk mail. It was a form with PHD Biosciences logo entitled "Background Check Authorization." It looked like it was a true and correct copy from that company. She asked me to complete it and send it back to them, with a copy of my ID. By this time I was a little suspicious, so I told her I would need some time and would fill it out and return it the next day.

I began to google the company, their staff, address, everything. They seemed to be an actual company. Then I googled "Leya Garbaree." I looked at the returns I got from doing that. One was a facebook page of that name, but the picture of the person was different. Then I saw a return that was from the Better Business Bureau stating that someone else was scammed by that person! The names were only one letter different - Leya Gabaree and Leya GaRbaree. But still too close to be just a coincidence! At that point I stopped communicating with either the first person who texted me, and the person on Teams. I just wanted to share this so no one else out there gets taken advantage of. Thanks.
