I was contacted by someone who said they worked for the OIG - Office of Inspector General. He gave me a name and said he was an Officer, provided a badge number and a case number. He did not state which OIG. He said a case was opened in my name and someone was impersonating me and opened accounts I my name. The conversation was calm, slightly scripted - plausible but generic and didn't tie out. He stated it was a secure line - it was not. He focused on the social security number asking if I had provided it to others and noted he would not ask for information from me. It was an odd interaction, and I got off of the call, researched it and it was fake.
