I was sent an email impersonating an XFinity missed payment. I called and received instructions to pay the company. Tired from work, I didn't consider it and paid. I froze my card immediately after.

Since August 25, 2024, I have been receiving emails from what is supposed to be Xfinity (Comcast). I received approximately 10 to 20 messages a day telling me that my service will be interrupted due to nonpayment of $98.83. The latest messages I received are stating that my service will be suspended the next day. On or about September 6, I contacted Xfinity (Comcast) via telephone and was told by the representative that my account was current. I had a zero balance due. I thought the problem was because when I opened my account I went through one of their contractors. In order to set up my account, I gave him information from a voided check which included my account number and routing number. The first emails I received was telling me to update my payment method so I changed my payment method to credit/debit card. Also, I noticed on some of the emails that the "from" address is different on each email and some have names of companies which are not Xfinity or Comcast. I am getting frustrated because I can't stop the emails from coming to my email. At first I was marking the emails as spam but the representative from Xfinity (Comcast) I spoke with told me to stop opening the messages. I only opened a message today to get the pertinent information that this report was requesting.

I called xfinity and made a payment arrangement. Someone supposedly from xfinity called me several times the day of payment. Thinking i was paying my bill I gave my information and they now keep trying to debit my account.

- Essington, PA, USA • May 23, 2024

Person disguised themselves as an agent from Xfinity. Told me someone from Kuwait was trying to use extremely high amounts of data on my account. I called 611 and have been thrown completely through a loop. Someone working for Xfinity must have something to do with this, because they knew all of my information, and 611 is saying not to worry but they said they are aware of someone trying to use data. Same person called and left a voice mail using this number, yesterday, and when I called Xfinity back this morning, Xfinity tells me to disregard it as it is a scammer. Switching to Xfinity has been a nightmare. Don't waste your time.

I received an email claiming to be from my provider, Comcast, using the supposed email address, xfinity.com. The email contained many grammatical mistakes and did not have company name and address at the bottom. The stated purpose of the email was to inform me my email account was being flagged as inactive due to lack of use and I would lose all data if I did not resolve. It provided links for me to resolve the issue. However, I knew it was not right because I happened to be using Comcast email to read the email.

Scammer claimed to be xfinity. He said our box needed to updated or we would loose tv service. It would be a fee of $199 completely refundable in 6 months. I did not fall for it.

They offered to lower my monthly Xfinity bill by putting me on a government plan ACP. They only needed to credit my credit card 200 dollars and I wouldn’t be charged for 3 months. They were very good at their information. I never gave my credit card number that they wanted but I can see where others could fall for this scam.

This phone number is available for Xfinity on the internet search. They called me back when I told them I didn’t feel comfortable giving them my credit card information and they were from Pakistan.

Alledgedly this is Xfinity contacting me to state that my payment will not go through due to an issue with the expiration of my credit card. I immediately went to Xfinity to confirm what card is on file and nothing is going to expire. They want you to click on a "Resolve Now" button, I won't do it, but know other people will. Please let people know about this. Hopefully I can attach a copy to this form. Where can I email a copy of the scam email so others can see it?

The number appeared on Google as the 1-800 for Xfinity Internet. They claimed to be Xfinity and asked me for my account number, the last 4 digits of my card on file with Xfinity because "they were the cancellation department and that's information only the billing department has," they asked for the last 4 of my social security number (which I refused to give), and told me that this was all to help cancel my account with them as I was moving. They charged $99.99 as an "early cancellation fee" through a "consulting firm" and gave me an invoice number of #100286391. I received an email from GoDaddy marketplace. The real Xfinity internet confirmed that this was a scam and to report it.

The phone number said it was from South Carolina but the address for the consulting group is in New York.

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

Emails state "We received your cancelation request," When I went to and contacted the Xfinity company, they had no recoerd or idea of what I was talking about and have records of my bill being paid ahead of time.

the date on the fake email is 2023-11-10T00:00:00.0000000Z

The email does not give a phone number but encourages you to click on links.

I contact Xfinity to help with moving my internet service. I called a phone number after a google search. An agent came on the line, claiming to be an agent from Xfinity, asked for my service addresses. Ultimately I was charged a $50 moving fee, and my account balance of $110 - I received several text messages from the agent, with the name of Victor White - with the number 1-404-809-3770. The charge he said was to go through Xfinity PAC of Atlanta - the charge did come through my text message with the name Xfinity PAC of Atlenta. This was my first clue - after hanging up I called my bank, reported the fraud, and tried to call the numbers given by Xfinity - none of the numbers went through to a live phone line. Just dead air. The payment was processed through my bank within a few days. I have notified the fraud department of the bank. PAC of Atlanta (the website) looks to be a charity - but the website looks fraudulent.

On August 18, 2023 I got a call from XFINITY saying my monthly service will go down to $60 a month for one year if I pay $720. I have to pay it with TARGET gift cards because TARGET is sponsoring it. So, I went to TARGET and bought $720 gift card and called them over the phone and gave them the gift card's serial numbers. Two days later, someone called me and told me they are having problems with TARGET and I need to send them again another $720 gift card so I can qualify for the reduced $60 a month service. I said why don't they send me a refund check first so I can buy another TARGET gift card because I'm on a fixed income. The scammer said "no" he cannot do that. I said I would like to talk to his supervisor and he said there's no other person higher than him and he started getting upset and irritated with me and started raising his voice. (He had an Indian accent). I was upset and frustrated so I hung up. Minutes later, I got a text saying I will be penalized $2,000 if I don't pay another $720. I knew then I got scammed because XFINITY will not threaten me like that. So I looked up the main office phone number of XFINITY and finally got to the legitimate people. I was told by the real XFINITY that I was scammed and a lot of their customers have been scammed by these people and it's hard to catch them because they're a syndicate all over the world. These are the phone numbers that kept calling me: (888) 256-1836, (844) 665-1792, (888) 600-6145, (855) 595-8511, (888) 856-0952, (833) 336-0946 and (833) 336-1281. XFINITY said they cannot refund my money. I will appreciate if you keep me updated with your investigations.

I received a voicemail message that said I could save 50% off my Xfinity bill if I returned the call. When I returned the call the person was able to locate my address when I told him how much my bill was and the last four of my social security number. He said my bill could be cut in half to $120 a month if I paid $720 today by 6 PM, but I had to use Target gift cards to make the payment. He said to get more than one gift card and to say it was for personal use if they asked and not a promo, he said they would tax the gift card if it was for a promo. He said that the $720 would cover six months and I wouldn’t be billed for six months and then it would be $120 for the remaining two years of the contract. He gave me an authorization code: XFI615 and a Billing Department number to call: 833-492-0126. He stated that I needed to do this by 6 PM tonight for the deal to take effect. I thought it was too good to be true so I called Xfinity and they said there was no such promo.

This has happened multiple times where I get phone calls to my cell phone from phone numbers associated w/real people. I don't answer unknown numbers but the voicemails are always the same. Some deal with Xfinity is expiring etc etc call into 888-822-2019. When I google search that # online there are multiple entries for different spam calls from different companies

Today I called in to the 888 # to see what would happen or who would answer & it was a guy w/an indian accent who said thanks for calling Xfinity. I said I would like to add my # to your do not call registry at your company. He kept asking me questions that would be answered by yes or no, I repeated that I was calling to add my phone # to a do not call list and then he started asking what services I used.

I advised that I did not want to discuss that, only want to get my number added to a do not call list. I ended up hanging up and filing this complaint. My concern is some less savvy person would say "yes" to one of their questions and then have their info stolen during the course of the conversation with whoever these guys really are.

Called saying xfinity Comcast cable deal ending today if you take 2 year contract whereas send $600 for 4 months after that $150 per month for 2 years. Attached is invoice they sent as gave them my email after they knew i had yahoo account. After that I waited on phone and realized it was a scam so hung up. Before I received the invoice I was alerted that a new device was trying to sign into my xfinity account as per attached email pic. I don’t want this to happen to anyone and have their money taken. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Heidi

Had to call 888-390-3039 by 5pm Pst today. 50% off Xfinity monthly bill for 5 years. The catch was to prepay the first year. $484, no bills for 11 months, then only$44 a month. He knew the amount of my monthly Xfinity bill. I called Xfinity to verify. They said it was a scam.

On June 26th we got a call, The identified themself as Xfinity (we returned call to make sure) and the number had all the xfinity prompts. The offered a special running with Target. If we paid 6 months upfront using target gift cards our bill would be $90 per month instead of $180. Plus they would pay our July bill of $180 ( which they did & it showed ip in our account) which was later was removed & Xfinity charged us a bad check fee on top of additional charges over $400. The scammer called us back on July 4th wanting us to get 2 more gift cards because there was a problem with the 1st 2, I then knew we were scammed. Thry never asked gor sny personal information because they already had it all. They had name, address, xfinity account number, etc.

We reported this to police dept, Xfinity & fraud websites.
