Phony Debt Collectors Reports & Reviews (1)

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received a phone call yesterday from Benton Asset Recovery. I feel it was a scam. It was not right because they wanted me to send the money right now. They knew my name and the last four digits of my Social Security number. I said tell me what is is and they said. it. They said I had a debt of $1400 but I could pay $800. He said I could di it with a credit card. I called him back and said my card does not have that kind of money. He aid can you call me back Friday. He said I had a negative $1400 in my Huntington Bank account twelve years ago. I called my bank. They saw I had an account. The company that was handling it went out of business. I requested validation in writing. They sent me an email. They wanted me to enter my credit card number in the email. His name was Bill Gates. I did not give it out. The email had the company address. 8383 Wilshire Blvd. STE 800 Beverly Hills, CA 90211. Twelve years is too long. He said he sent me a yellow envelope in July. I did not receive an envelope. He said If I don't settle this now I will go to court and end up paying the full $1400.
