Type of a scam Online Purchase
When I searched for the website, I was met with what seemed to be a legitimate online site for buying new and used cameras. The name of the store is PhotoMarket eCommerce. After checking out the store, I directed myself back to the link he sent for the used Sony A7iii camera and purchased it through PayPal. He goes by the name of "Ruslan Honcharov" and his provided PayPal email is "[email protected]". I sent him a text to let him know of my purchase and he immediately told me that he will send tracking information within the next 24-48 hours. The date of the purchase and the text conversation was on December 24, 2020.
Fast-forward to December 28, 2020, and he has yet to contact me with the tracking info, so I once again sent him a message asking for the status of my order. He has gone dark ever since, not even responding to any of my other follow-up texts thereafter. This was the moment I knew something wasn't right, so I filed a dispute on PayPal's Resolution Center, providing as much information as I can. Prior to filing this dispute, I visited the site to gather their address and contact information, which is listed below:
201 N Magnolia Ave
Orlando, FL 32801
A day or two after I submitted the dispute, I revisited the site once more and found out that all of their information has changed, from address, to phone number, to email, etc. As of today, their new information is shown below:
2 Rue Ravy Breton
Vichy, France 03200
+33 9 20 30 57 80
At this point, I was 100% confident that this was a scam site using fake addresses and alias phone numbers. On top of that, there was an update on my PayPal dispute, where he provided me with a tracking information. Already knowing that he was a scammer, I checked the details of the package. According to UPS, the "package" was shipped on December 28, 2020 and delivered on December 29, 2020. However, the package was nowhere to be found, and I soon discovered that the package weight was only 1.00lb, whereas the item I was interested in itself was 1.43lb. In addition, he didn't even provide any address, only the city and states of where it was shipped and delivered to:
From Louisville, Kentucky (his "location", which is not even in Orlando)
To Los Angeles, California (my location)
If it helps, the tracking number is 1Z46399YNY02496405.
As of today, I am continuing to send some follow-up texts, but I'm pretty sure he has blocked me.
That is all of the information I have of him.
